Faith Tested

Every day is a test. Each of us wakes up facing a day of choices, decisions and consequences .

We are free to live our lives how we want, especially in the USA. We have laws of course, but we even get to choose if we abide by them…thus the consequences.

The other day I was thinking about faith. As you can tell my faith is important to me. I’m trying to better myself in many ways, but none more than growing my faith in God. One of the ways that I keep trying to grow is by writing as much as I can about what I learn and how it relates to life. This is from my point of view, but I write to help me grow and hope maybe it will connect with someone else.

But it's not easy to write and share my thoughts on faith. Faith, religion, God, the Bible, Jesus - these are all things that are not easy to write about. They are not easy to be bold about in today’s society. Being God-fearing or religious/spiritual is seen (at least from what I can tell) as weak, or behind the times, or not cool…<insert whatever the kids are saying>.

I find people are very quiet and cautious about their faith in God. Part of the reason, I think is because if we truly believe in what is in the Bible, then it goes against modern society. It contradicts many movements, causes and acts that the world wants to be normalized.

Faith in the Bible is hard. It’s not easy because these days, and really since the beginning of history, faith in what is in the bible, Jewish or Christian, has always gone against the grain. Has always had to be bolder, tougher, durable and enduring.

It's not easy to be a real Christian and be bold. I’m often surprised at how many people really do have faith, but keep it so quiet and so close to their chest that you’d never know. I’m surprised at conversations I have about faith with people I never thought made God a priority in their minds.

The point is the world is secular and I don't think things are going in a good direction. The fear of God is gone for many people. Those who still believe, I hope that you can endure and it strengthens you. Be bold and strengthen others. I’m here to help how I can, and hope you will be there for others. Take small, bold, courageous steps to show your faith and be examples for others to start taking those same steps.
