Be Patient
I’ve never considered myself a patient person, yet when I take a second to think about it, so many things I do are connected to patience.
Being a parent takes a lot of patience. Those little munchkins are living off of instinct and reaction. They don’t know better and haven’t experienced enough to make the right decisions, so parents need to teach, but it takes repetition and attention…which means being patient for the results.
My job in sales of an unusual and complex product means I’m rarely going to get a sale without some type of nurturing. I sell something that any company can benefit from and should use, but it’s not necessary. It takes a level of patience to make things happen and sales to get done.
When I was younger I wasn’t patient when it came to life. I wanted the stuff that everyone else had. A sweet ride, nice house, cool clothes, fun gadgets and costly experiences. I didn’t alway have the money for it, but still found good ol’ credit and dug that hole deep, which made my hometown bank happy and profitable.
Compare that to my Grandpa Bernie, growing up in the depression era and a pioneer in organic farming. He saved and bought when he had the money. They didn’t have all the latest and greatest. They were patient and saved up.
Patience is a blessing and when God blesses us with it, our lives can be much less stressful. It can help us set up a better life and see the bigger picture.
