True Religion

 

The word “religion” isn’t seen as powerful, as holy or even in a favorable light any more. More and more people are falling away from religion, and it’s my personal opinion why the world is getting more chaotic. 

The problem we’ve had with religion isn’t the idea or the reason we have religion, it's the bastardization by the people who are in charge. Humans, while having some good characteristics, have some HUGE negative traits. Pride, selfishness and greed are all things which pollute good things. 

Just like we pollute the ocean and land, human actions pollute minds and society. For whatever reason, when humans start to get power, things go sideways. Look at our politicians and celebrities…most are 3rd level whack-jobs. Yet we follow them with reverence and complete trust. 

I’m a spiritual person. I’m a religious person. I talk to God every day and do all that I can to live by what Jesus taught. I know that just going to church is not true faith. This verse above is what true religious and true faith is about. It’s about taking care of those in need and not falling into the traps of society. 

True faith is not the blind following of a pastor, church or leader. It’s about consciously thinking and pondering. It’s about reading one of the oldest books ever written and trying to relate it to today’s world. 

Like I said, humans are by nature flawed and susceptible to power, greed and pride, which can have amazingly strong effects on a personality. When it comes down to it, helping those in need and not falling into the daze of the world is what God said is true religion.
