Rules

 

One of the most painful things as football fan is watching your team get penalized over and over again. It’s a sign of lack of discipline and focus. For the last few years it's been plaguing my college football fandom. 

If you can’t follow the rules, you’ll be penalized. If you are penalized, your chances of winning go down. This is true in any sport, but also in life and in faith. 

In life, you can skid by not following the rules for a long time, but it will either eventually catch up with you, or it’s going to destroy your happiness with constant concern and anxiety. In faith, God gave us commandments, and even sent His son to help us find direction. If we don’t follow those directions in this life, we are not going to win in the end. 

There is always an easier way. There is always some way to cut corners, cheat the game, cheat the system, and at times it may seem like it gets us ahead. The truth is that it all catches up with us eventually…either in this life or the next. 

You might win a few games if you cheat, but you’ll never be a champion.
