Chosen

 

In my new career endeavor, my company, Talent Plus, helps our partners choose top performers who have a high probability to be successful in their position in order to help those companies thrive. 

We focus on identifying talents and the science behind it to help them make decisions or how to invest their resources to create the best employees possible. We help weed out the wrong people for the job. We make HR’s life easier when many apply but only a few are chosen. 

When it comes to life we have competition around us for everything we do. The modern days are not as bad as it was in history. We aren’t fighting over food or hunting grounds. These days we are competing for next level things. For high paying jobs, for homes in good school districts. To have our kids on the right club team. The world is full of competition. 

I know as both a successful  and failed athlete, that preparation is the key to being chosen when many are called. As a kid, natural athletic ability could get you picked early for kickball, but in the adult world it's more about the work you put in or are willing to put in.

Being prepared takes practice, meditation, concentrated thought and deliberate action in order to be ready and prepared. If you want to be successful in your job,  you have to do more than just show up to work. If you want to be seen as the best at whatever you do it takes effort. If you’re in leadership, it’s working outside of 8-5. If you’re in a factory, it’s more than clocking in - it’s taking extra steps to make sure your machine is ready or your area is cleaned and efficient. If you’re a teacher its spending extra time noticing kids’ behavior. Many can do what you do, but will you do it the best?  

Faith is like this. This scripture is all about faith. It’s all about all of us being called to God and faith. We are called to God on a daily basis in life and some day we’ll hear our name called after we are done on Earth. We’ll all be there, but we all won’t be chosen. The way we live now will be considered if we are chosen to live in the good place. I 100% believe that. This life is all about preparation and practice. We will all be called, but like that great job, few will be chosen.
