Prepared
Are you prepared?
I often listen to Joe Rogan’s podcast when he has someone interesting on. Rogan is an amazing interviewer. I don’t agree with many of his thoughts, but part of the reason he is so good is that he’s not close-minded at all. He asks probabing questions and is very open to being persuaded if it makes sense.
Joe had Tulsi Gabbard on. Tulsi was a candidate for the Democratic presidential ticket back in 2016. Tulsi was on Rogan to talk about what’s going on with Russia and Ukraine, as well as America’s involvement. The one point that hit home for me was how close we truly are to nuclear war (hugely down-played by the media) especially as Russia continues to lose and Putin gets dangerous.
This post is not going to be political, but it made me think about world wide destruction. About the end of civilization if a bomb went off. It made me think, would my family and I survive? What kind of a world would Abigail grow up in?
One thought was about how so many around me have fallen into a sleep with their faith. It seems like many people feel like just going to church on Sunday is enough. It feels like even more think just the holidays are enough. Others think just not hurting others, living your life and helping now-and-than, that’s good enough.
I’m turning 45 this week. Hoping that this is like a half-way point for my life, but even then, I’m realizing how fast it’s gone. What happens after this world? I don’t believe we become nothing. I don’t think our consciousness is going to just blend in with the “universe”.
I think there truly is an afterlife of heaven and hell. I think we are going to stand in judgement of how we lived our life. I think we need to prepare for it, just like we prepare for retirement.
Living a life of in-the-moment is not going to prepare us. I believe this life is a test on what is next. That test includes hard situations and how we react. Losing those we love, not having what we want, loneliness, frustration, anger, hurt. It’s all about how we react. Who do we turn to for strength and security.
My faith is strong, but I’ve not always been a good person, living a good life. I know I will have to pay for thoughts and actions, but I will be prepared.
I pray things de-escalate and the nuclear threat goes down. I also pray that it makes all of us think about our lives and how we are living them. The Son of God will return and we will be judged.
FAITH, family and friends…the rest are just details.
