Don’t Do It Alone

I spent many years just trying to figure it out.

You’re asking “to figure out what?” Well almost everything.

For some reason I’ve always had issues with asking for help or to have someone explain things to me. I would just try it and stumble my way to understanding, or I would just NOT try it.

In contrast, my younger brother would ask more questions. He would ask our parents about how to do things, which in turn led him to being a good carpenter and successful at trying new things.

It took me a long time to realize that asking for help, admitting you don’t know is a much wiser thing to do. I’m still very independent / stubborn about learning new things, but I’m also better about asking for help. Looking back I know that I could be in a much different place if I would have just asked for help.

There are so many people in the world that want to help. I love helping others and I know many people also love it. I understand that God made us all different. He blessed us with different strengths and weaknesses in order for us to work together and help each other.

Getting older teaches many lessons, one of the primary ones is that we can’t know it all. We should swallow our pride and ask for help, for guidance.  Don’t spin your wheels too long because the hole you’re in will only get deeper.

At least I’m understanding this now. Hopefully I’ve got a lot of years to learn new things. Just have to humble myself and remember there are people, shepherds, to show me the way.
